Miles Davis, during auditions, used to ask each person if they are full-time musicians or if they have another job. If they had another job, he wouldn't hire them.
Hey, well that's Miles Davis... he should expect nothing less... Me? I'm just plugging away part-time at this stuff... doesn't mean it's wasted time or filling time...
