BMI will present it's BMI Icon Award to Bryan Ferry at a ceremony in London at a ceremony in London on October 7, 2008.
The Icon accolade recognises songwriters that have had “a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers”.
Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel and Kinks frontman Ray Davies are all past recipients of the prize.
Ferry is best known for fronting Roxy Music and is believed to currently be recording a new album with the band.
The singer will be presented with the BMI Icon award at London's Dorchester Hotel on October 7th.
